Why are some crazy people addicted to danger? I don’t know, but I do know that I am addicted to satisfying my curiosity. I’m a board-certified general surgeon and have had the sad job of having to resect many types of cancer, and even sadder, I’ve seen many brave individuals succumb ultimately to metastasis and recurrence. I have always loved research, as a chemistry major, as a medical student, and now as a surgeon. I am insatiably curious to know how our amazingly intricate, complex human body is designed and works. The advancements in technology and science are impressive. More impressive (and mind-blowing, frankly) is what these advancements have revealed about our bodies. . . king David in the old testament Bible already said it, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalms 139:14
