Future Scientists Take on Lyme Disease

One of Daniel 2:28, Inc’s desires is to engage with our youth and nurture a hunger for knowledge.

Lyme disease is a potentially devastating consequence of being infected by Borrelia burgdorferi, a bacteria transmitted by a tick bite. How many new people develop Lyme disease each year? U.S. estimates vary from 30,000 to 300,000 per year! With a U.S. population of about 331 million, that’s only 0.01% – 0.1% of our country’s population. That doesn’t sound like a lot of people, but it tends to affect children and young people, and its impact can transcend generations.

You probably know someone, first-hand, who has been touched by Lyme disease. These two high schoolers are no exception and have wanted to do something about it. Finding a new and more effective cure for Lyme disease can be a daunting aspiration, but not enough to stop Joy and Naomi from taking their first steps to realizing a vision.

The two have already fundraised enough to get their project off the ground, and Daniel 2:28, Inc. is sponsoring their project by providing access to laboratory equipment and resources. Click here to visit their website.

Any additional donations for their project can be made to Daniel 2:28, Inc. , and be sure to include a note to earmark the contribution for their project, and know that you are investing in our future and helping to make it a brighter one.
