Scientific researchers are not that different than lottery ticket junkies. I suspect that the odds of buying and scratching THE winning lottery ticket, are higher than making a big discovery in science. Any honest researcher should be willing to be admit that “research” is a ton of trial and error. We may systematically tweak and repeat experiments, but it’s still trial and error. Living systems are so incredibly and unfathomably complex that nothing is a sure thing. No matter how well thought out the hypothesis or intelligently planned the experiment, the result will always be same – unpredictable and uncertain. Now you know why at Daniel 2:28 we pray so much. “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9. We want God to lead the way.
